It doesn't take a genius to figure out you could un bolt the top cut piece of pipe. Take a piece of pipe fitted with an on/off valve and with the valve open, place it and bolt it down and then close the valve. Yes. It is that easy. So why is the oil still flowing freely. As it turns out, the giant oil pocket is contaminated with natural gas. This cause a problem for BP. As it turns out, it is cheaper to just let it flow into the ocean and bleed off some of the natural gas pressure than it would have been to wait and add the bleed off tanks that are being built now.
The Largest concern should be, why has the US government been refusing help from other countries to contain this issue in a speedy effort could have ended the spill already. What does the Obama administration stand to gain with such a huge distraction and devastation.
