How do I change the Serpentine belt on a Ford Scorpio?
The tensioner used by Ford consists of a large clock spring wrapped around one bolt, engaging in an arm on which a pulley is mounted. Because the action of the spring is anticlockwise, when engaged the pulley pulls the drive belt at a pressure set by the spring. As the drive belt lengthens with wear, so the spring takes up the slack. Because of the constant tension drive belts last for years, but they should be checked regularly for signs of wear. The belt might become cracked across its width, normally in the grooved face, or it may become glazed or frayed in appearance.
NOTE: If the drivebelt tensioner(s) are in good order then they will swivel about the fulcrum bolt quite easily using only medium force. However, if the tensioners have corroded in place then considerable force may be required to release the tensioner - in this case additional leverage may be required and care used to avoid injury.

Should I solder or crimp my electrical conections ?
I prefer crimp unless on at an area that it can't be used. It should be mentioned that there is a correct way to apply a crimp to crimp connectors. All crimp connectors start out as a flat piece of metal that is shaped into a cylinder, so they have a seam where the edges meet that runs the length of the connector. The connector should be placed in the crimping tool with the seam at 12 o'clock (facing up). When the jaws are closed, the shaped crimper die presses down on the seam from above, bends and crushes the connector metal, compresses and traps the wire strands and produces a tight crimp. A connector that's crimped with the seam in a different position may still work, but the connector may not assume the desired crimped shape and its grip on the wire strands may not be as tight as a result.
Second, I've learned that the European Union (EU) has passed legislation requiring the removal of all lead from solder. This has presented problems in electronic items. With the lead removed, tiny whiskers can form on a solder joint that can short out adjoining connections.

Keep Your Car Happy this Winter

One of the most important things you can do to make sure your car stays happy this winter is to keep your coolant level full. You need to check this more often in the winter than in the summer.
Why do you need to check the coolant more often in the winter?
Surprisingly , the car will over heat faster in the winter than in the summer because it takes longer for the engine oil to warm and lubricate in return creating more friction which causes heat. So the more friction for a longer period of time will create more heat , faster.
Each car runs a 50/50 ratio of coolant and water. So if your level is less than a qt low, you can simply add water. It is recommended to use distilled water, but when it means making it home ... I think tap water will work just fine.
